ParkThatBike – audits & surveys

Many local authorities want to improve the quality and quantity of cycle parking in their areas.  But, before you can go forwards, you need to know the current situation. ParkThatBike can help by carrying out a systematic cycle audit of the area.

A typical audit will involve checking every street and thoroughfare, parks and open spaces, as well as major journey generators such as shopping centres, railway stations, libraries, community buildings, and leisure centres.  Naturally, all surveying is carried out by bike!

We’ll send you a comprehensive report that lists all existing cycle parking: the type, the exact location and its condition.  We’ll alert you to stands that are showing their age or that have been damaged, and we’ll flag up old-fashioned, unpopular forms of parking such as “wheelbenders” or slotted concrete slabs so that they can be replaced at a future date.

We can also identify places where new or additional cycle parking is needed, and suggest appropriate design solutions.  For example, where it’s not feasible to install classic Sheffield stands, we’ll look at alternatives such as wall mounted rails and rings, stands with a “heritage” finish, Cyclehoops or Plantlocks.

Often there will be a need for bike parking to be sited on privately owned property. No problem!  We’re adept at working with landowners and obtaining their permission.
